Well, I’m getting close. Close to conquering The Monster. Or at least the majority of the monster. I only need 14 more cards (sans the big 4 – Wagner, Plank, Doyle error, Magie error)! Unfortunately for me, the last 14 are among the most expensive.
Earlier this week I added the Elberfeld Washington portrait, which is a tough common that brings a premium. I’ve also updated a few cards such as Flick-HOF (my 3rd upgrade of this card) and Ernie Howard – Old Mill Southern League.
I’ve also been taking a stronger interest in extreme miscut cards. I’ve added a couple that feature double names on the front of backs that are so miscut, two versions show. I’m not alone in collecting these printing oddities, but interest in them seems to be peaking lately. I laugh though when I see some sellers asking hundreds of dollars for these miscut names when you can usually get them for the regular price or lower. Needless to say, they won’t get a dine…or hundreds…from me.
