Ventured into Maryland to find a new card shop & 4 new cards

After a couple of Google searches, I found a place in Potomac, Maryland that carries T206 cards, so this past Saturday I paid the shop a visit.  I was hoping to sell a couple of my duplicates and pick up a few cards I still need.  The staff was cool and helpful, but the ‘buyer’ wasn’t in, so I couldn’t sell any of my cards – no biggie.

They had a collection of graded and raw cards, so I reviewed them and found they had some I still needed.  Unfortunately, all of the cards had basic Piedmont backs.  As you may know if you follow me on Facebook, I recently tallied up the numbers for each of the backs that I own.  At the time of that posting, I had 232 Piedmonts, 80 Sweet Caporal, 33 Polar Bear (my favorite), 27 Old Mill Southern League, 6 Old Mill, 6 Sovereign, 3 Tolstoi and 1 Cycle.  Since I have around 130 cards to go, I’m going to start focusing more on the less common backs.

Despite having all Piedmonts, the shop’s cards were in pretty good shape, prices weren’t terrible and they had some I needed, so I bought four cards:  Stone (portrait), Sheckard (glove not showing), Goode, Downey (batting).   All have the Piedmont 150 backs except Downey, which has Piedmont 350.  Always nice to add a few more cards to the collection and explore a new shop.
